Sono-Tek to Highlight a New R&D TCO coating system at Intersolar North America

ExactaCoat SC system for TCO layer formation

Sono-Tek corporation announces a new fully enclosed XYZ tabletop programmable ultrasonic coating system designed for R&D level applications depositing transparent conductive oxide (TCO) chemistries such as ITO, ZnO, SnO, FTO and CdO. The system will be highlighted at Intersolar North America, July 10-12. Sono-Tek will be exhibiting in booth 5475.

Ideal for Transparent Conductive Oxide layer R&D coating processes, the ExactaCoat SC for TCO is designed with many unique features to allow for the high temperatures and corrosive acid-based solutions often necessary for these applications. The system features Sono-Tek’s new Cobalt A12 Series corrosive resistant ultrasonic nozzle, which is fabricated with chemically resistant materials to protect wetted paths from TCO acid solutions.

Some of the unique features of the ExactaCoat SC system include:

• Precise substrate uniformity with repeatability down to ±2%
• 400 mm x 400 mm x 100 mm (15.75” x 15.75” x 3.94”) range of motion
• Programmable coordinated motion in all three axes simultaneously
• High temp heat plate
• Cooling of ultrasonic nozzle
• Protective bellows and covers over XYZ slides and motors
• Cooling of XYZ motors
• Teflon coated wetted surfaces

Ultrasonic spray deposition is a unique, cost effective alternative to sputtering or vapor deposition. The new ExactaCoat TCO system enables small volume R&D of different chemistries without large capital equipment investment. Ultrasonic atomization also allows for low velocity spray resulting in minimal cooling of substrate during deposition.

Sono-Tek also offers cost effective high volume TCO layer deposition equipment used in ultrasonic spray pyrolysis applications, utilizing the same precision ultrasonic nozzle technology. This scalability ensures that manufacturers will be able to obtain comparable results when scaling up to production volume, using cost effective manufacturing equipment.
