Experience. Expertise. Excellence. Since 1975.

Sono-Tek’s journey began in 1975 when Dr. Harvey L. Berger established the Company with a vision of enhancing efficiency, spurred by the U.S. energy crisis. With his invention of the ultrasonic spray nozzle, one of his initial endeavors was to revolutionize fuel burners for home heating, aiming to conserve oil through a more effective spray process. Other spray applications quickly followed, including blood collection tube coating and printed circuit board fluxing. Gaining a reputation as a world leader in ultrasonic spray fluxing, Sono-Tek sold thousands of fluxing systems in the 1990s and 2000s, most of which are still in use today.
As ultrasonic coating technology evolved, Sono-Tek has capitalized on its engineering prowess and application expertise to develop comprehensive coating solutions ranging from R&D machines to continuous high volume production equipment. These solutions cater to various industries, including alternative energy products such as fuel cells and solar cells, medical devices, microelectronics, glass manufacturing and other industrial coatings.
Some notable timeline events in Sono-Tek’s history include:
- In August 1998, Sono-Tek obtained its first ISO certification with a commitment to quality standards in the Company’s engineering and manufacturing practices and is currently ISO 9001:2015 certified. Click here to view our official ISO certificate.
- In 2002, Sono-Tek introduced tabletop and standalone programmable multi-axis coating systems. Over the next two decades, these systems have grown in size and sophistication, incorporating advanced robotics and refined product handling capabilities to meet evolving industry demands.
- In July 2020, Sono-Tek expanded its portfolio with the release of a line of 6-axis robotic coating platforms. The introduction of these systems increases Sono-Tek’s capabilities to coat more complex 3-dimensional surfaces and offers high-end automation for modern semiconductor and other manufacturing facilities.
- In August 2021, Sono-Tek achieved an important milestone by being uplisted onto the Nasdaq Exchange, trading under the ticker symbol SOTK.
Today, Sono-Tek has a large global presence, with six applications labs and over 50 factory-trained distributor agencies, complementing its design and manufacturing headquarters in Milton, NY.
