Sono-Tek ultrasonic spray technology is proven for atmospheric spraying of oleophobic coating solutions (anti-fingerprint) such as DARO (permanent Durable Anti-reflective Oleophobic), Hard Coat Scratch Resistant (SRC) coatings, and functional optical coatings such as ITO for Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO) layer formation.

From R&D to high volume manufacturing, Sono-Tek has systems to suit any oleophobic coating application needs, with precision ultrasonic spray. A cost effective alternative to vapor deposition and sputtering deposition methods, ultrasonic atomization is easily scalable, so that once a process is developed the move to high volume manufacturing is seamless, with the same core technology used in all of Sono-Tek spraying systems. The ExactaCoat platform is a tabletop R&D system perfect for developing a process. The FlexiCoat System is an inline programmable 3-axis small footprint automated coating system with fully automated control of process parameters, program recipe storage, and many optional features, including conveyor. Our WideTrack system deposits uniform thin films acorss any substrate width, including high speed conveyor and continuous float glass processes.

Ultrasonic spray nozzles operate by converting high frequency sound waves into mechanical energy, producing stading waves on the nozzle tip. These waves fall off the tip of the nozzle, forming micron sized droplets with a very tight drop distribution ratio. The size of the droplets is mathematically defined, according to the frequency of the nozzle, with droplets as small as 9 microns (with acetone). Tight drop distribution and the soft, low velocity, pressureless spray enables very thin uniform oleophobic coatings not possible with pressure spray methods.
