SonoDry System Options:

N2 Inert Loop - for laboratory scale spray drying using volatile solvents

Teflon Membrane Scrubber - for ultra-fine powder recovery, maximizing yields (can yield > 95% on nanoparticles/particles with low bulk density)

Teflon Absolute Filter - for absolute filtration of feed at lab level

Teflon Tube Peristaltic Pump- best for contamination-free services on solvents (replaces silicone tubing)

Hot Melt System - maintains liquid temperature from hot plate to nozzle

21 CFR Part 11 Compliance

Dual Liquid Feed (for both ultrasonic nozzle and air spray nozzle)

Congealing Nozzle - for freeze drying

Counter-Current Nozzle - facilitates larger diameter particles

System can be configured without ultrasonic nozzle upon request

Sono-Tek ultrasonic nozzle technology has become a well-known, proven technology to produce a low-velocity spray with a controlled drop size.

  • Non-clogging ultrasonic technology minimizes downtime, with low maintenance
  • Ultrasonic atomization allows extremely small batch production (1 ml/hr flow rate)
  • Available in 25, 48, 60 and 120 kHz (55, 38, 31 and 18μ drop diameters, respectively) frequencies

Ultrasonic nozzles operate by converting a high-frequency electrical signal, fed into two electrodes sandwiched between two piezoelectric transducers, resulting in mechanical expansion and contraction of the transducers. This causes vibrations to be sent down the nozzle's titanium horn, ultrasonically vibrating at the nozzle's atomizing tip. Liquid emerging onto the atomizing surface is broken into a spray by the ultrasonic energy concentrated there. This ultrasonic nozzle design provides an easily controllable atomized spray that cannot clog because of the large feed orifice and the self-cleaning ultrasonic vibration.
