SelectaFlux Brazing

SelectaFlux Retrofit for Brazing/Welding

Ultrasonic Selective Fluxing System Designed for Brazing & Welding Flux Applications

Ideal for spraying brazing and welding fluxes on targeted areas. Applications include: fittings, fins, baffles, pipe joints, radiators, heat exchangers, oil coolers, evaporators and condensers. Replaces wasteful paste, dip and pressure spray processes with non-clogging ultrasonic spray. Provides excellent uniform flux consistency and coverage while eliminating clogging.

Operating Principle

The SelectaFlux Retrofit is a complete, ready-to-integrate selective fluxing system. It combines Sono-Tek's unique Microspray ultrasonic atomizing nozzle with low-pressure air to produce a controlled, diverging beam of spray. A separate control module handles input/output system functions, making it easy to retrofit onto existing lines.

The ultrasonic vibrations not only produce repeatable atomization of the flux but also prevent any solids buildup within the nozzle or at the tip. Compressed air, typically at 1 psi, is introduced into the diffusion chamber of the air shroud, which produces a uniformly distributed flow of air around the nozzle stem.

The ultrasonically produced spray at the tip of the stem is immediately entrained in the air stream. An adjustable focusing mechanism on the air shroud allows complete control of spray width.

The spray envelope is bow-shaped. The width of the bow is controlled by moving the focus-adjust mechanism in and out. The distance between nozzle and substrate can be varied from near-contact to approximately two inches.

Control Module

SelectaFlux Retrofit Control Module

A compact,self-contained module consisting of the flux control system; power supplies, ultrasonic broadband generator, electrical inputs and outputs, liquid delivery pressure reservoir with optional stirrer. The module displays nozzle power, control of pressure to liquid delivery pressure reservoir, and pressure to air shroud. Controls allow user adjustment of timing, flow rate, and air pressure.
